Faith-Filled Explorations: Welcoming and Including Children with Disabilities and their Families
Congregations can be an oasis of welcoming and belonging for families of children with disabilities, but it doesn’t always work out that way. What are the elements of true belonging, and why are they important in an educational outreach mission? We will explore this and discuss strategies for strengthening relationships between families, schools, and congregations.
Our host is David Morstad. David is the author of Whole Community: Introducing Faith Communities to People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Following a career with Bethesda Lutheran Communities that included numerous classroom and administrative roles, he has continued his work as a writer, speaker, and consultant. He has been a disability advocate among congregations and professional organizations across the US, Europe, and the Baltic nations.
