SUMMARY:Faith-Filled Explorations: Exploring the Vital Link between Oral Motor Development and Childhood Speech Sound Acquisition
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, attendees will be equipped with a deeper appreciation for the synergistic relationship between the speech mechanism\, feeding proficiency\, and optimal nutrition. The session will delve into how the human oral motor system is ingeniously engineered not only for communication but also for chewing and swallowing an array of textures and consistencies of food. Attendees will take away actionable knowledge to support children in their journey toward developing strong oral motor skills\, conquering feeding challenges\, and thriving with the right balance of hydration and nourishment.\n\n \n\nYour Presenter\n\nAmy Danielsen\, MA\, CCC-SLP\, holds degrees in Communication Science and Disorders from both Augustana College and Northwestern University. With a rich professional background\, she has operated in diverse environments\, including preschool\, school-age\, and private practice settings. During her tenure as Clinic Director at NYU\, Amy led as an educator and guided graduate CSD students through seminars on effective clinical intervention strategies.\n\n\n\nAmy's expertise extends to collaborating with the geriatric population\, where she has applied her knowledge to enhance cognition and implement swallowing strategies. Her extensive experience is highlighted by her facilitation of numerous seminars\, covering subjects such as adapting curriculum for special needs students within inclusive school settings\, offering differential diagnosis and treatment strategies for school-age fluency disorders\, and promoting purposeful and intentional parenting approaches to foster communicative success during the preschool years.
